How Astrology States Compatibility For Love and Marriage?

by Javier Fuller

Astrology happens to be of extreme significance so far as human compatibility is concerned. This unique stream of knowledge gives an incredible insight into the various traits of a human personality. By acquainting yourself with these traits, you can ascertain the compatibility levels of a couple with success.

In fact these compatibility insights imparted by astrologer happens to be of crucial importance in making decision about your soul mate. If your astrological compatibility with your girl friend is not that good according to astrology reading, you are not likely to marry your girl friend and even if you marry your marriage may end soon.

That's why before tying the knot people long to know the feasibility of that relationship with the expected spouse. A compatibility insight could either be in conformity with your decision or it may suggest you to give a second thought to your decision.

Birth chart and your stars reveal a great deal about you and your love or marriage compatibility could be adjudged by analyzing your moon sign and position of Mars and Venus. Birth chart depicts the planet that casts a dominating influence over you. You imbibe most of your traits from that dominating planet. Similarly the person with whom you are checking your compatibility is analyzed on these counts. If traits are in conformity with each other and you and the other person under consideration share certain equation of Mars and Venus, you both could be compatible with each other.

Broadly speaking, your astrology sun sign greatly tells your compatibility with the people of other sign. If you are borne with a fire sign like Aries, you have very little chances of sharing a good relation with people of water sign. A general compatibility of sun sign happens to be a very general way of checking your compatibility. However an in depth analysis of birth chart and planets would tell about compatibility with utmost certainty.

Vedic Astrology that is prevalent in far eastern country India, lays great emphasis on astrological compatibility for marriage. Marriage happens to be on the card only when birth chart of bride and groom shows certain similarities or certain equations and this is considered as a sure indicator of higher level of compatibility.

Before marriage you can also go on checking your compatibility with your would-be soul mate with the help of an expert astrologer.

Do you believe in astrology?

by Luc De Jaeger

Whenever people talk about astrology the question of "a belief" arises. It's as if the human mindset instinctively associates astrology with "a belief."

Whenever people ask me if I believe in astrology, I respond to the question with another question: "What is a belief?" and I give them my answer right away.

A belief is everything you have not touched, not seen, not heard, not smelled, everything you have not lived and not experienced, everything that has not become part of your own life and existence and that has not become part of your own reality.

It's everything beyond your imagination, coming from another dimension you have not experienced yet, you are not aware of (yet) but that, nevertheless, exists somewhere for the ones who have experienced, researched or lived it.

In the world of the elephant, goldfish don't exist, even if they do exist in our own (human) reality. They are just part of another reality that we, human beings are able to live and experience. But not the elephants.

It's so difficult for so many people to live in reality, to be aware of other dimensions. Instead of judging and questioning who's right or wrong, they would better try to know more about it, the pros and the cons, the way it works or does not work and when it works or does not.

THAT would bring awareness to another dimension and bring far more insight. It would raise human consciousness; something our world needs so deeply.

Some medical doctors "believe" in natural healing, others only "believe" in high-tec solutions and others only "believe" in drugs. It depends on their mindset, experience and own reality.

Some astrologers only believe in the "ancient" deterministic schools, some others rely on psychological feelings and free will and yet others are more into the influence of the Asteroids. It all depends on their mindset and experience.

Saying that astrology is a "belief" is judging astrology without having experienced or researched it. It's up to you to raise your consciousness and awareness by doing your own research -- with respect to all topics and events in life. And if you want to research astrology, be sure to research and judge "astrology" and not the astrologer!

Chinese Astrology Forecast for Global Issues in 2007

by Elaine Fung

2007 is a year with countless gossips and arguments. There are dispute everywhere, on every level. The people have their own fights and the nature has its own conflicts.

The trigram that represents the world's luck in 2007 is 'Xian'. The Xian trigram represents the communion between the two genders and the connection between the heaven and earth. On the up side, it means understanding. On the down side, it may turn into arguments related to romantic affairs.

The trigram has the change on its fourth stroke, meaning the imbalance of Yin and Yang energy. That's why the world is filled with arguments and gossips. The fourth stroke is also where human stands according to legends. That explains why most important fights and disputes happen between human beings not nations.

Communication could make people feel good if it's not forced upon those concerned. Imposed mandatory communication is horrifying and repulsive. The arguments among human tend to happen behind closed doors. For instance, the U.S., China and even a small piece of land like Macau would have to deal with their internal conflicts. Their people would keep arguing on and on.

The Xian trigram just gives a general impression of the state of matters, without revealing the details. Yet, more details are disclosed by its subsidiary trigram 'Xiao Guo', the fifth stroke of which says, 'Overcast without rain; clouds from the Western outskirt; crisis of the new sovereign just like an animal caught in its cave.' From a pessimistic point of view, the text can be interpreted as a major incident is in the making. No matter how hard someone tries to hide, he/she would still be discovered by those strong and powerful. This is especially for those countries which seal themselves completely from the rest of the world; and those which haven't been recognized internationally.

Those internationally wanted by the police, because of criminal offences, political issues and terrorism, would be arrested in 2007. Certain countries or regions would also be threatened by external forces.

On the other hand, certain objects or people that have long been forgotten; and those items with profound historical significance would be prioritized once again this year.

In terms of global economy, those less affluent countries would see more resources and national growth in 2007.

Finally, accidents are likely to occur to structures or geographic formations situated on great height, such as satellites, mountains, houses or bridges.

What is Chinese astrology? Chinese Astrology is one of the most ancient philosophies still in existence today. The Chinese Astrology uses the Chinese calendar, which was invented in the 27-22 century B.C. by Emperor Yellow or known as Yellow Lord (Huangdi).

In ancient China and up till today, Astrology has been used to predict what happens to countries, the outcome of wars; weather of the year; economic trends, fortune of people and much more.

One complete cycle of the zodiac takes 60 years, which composes the arrangement of a heavenly stem and an earthly branch. The year 2000 marks the 17th year in the 78th cycle.

The animals signs are commonly known because of the legend of the Jade emperor summon the 12 animals (Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig ) for a race. However, the configurations of the heavenly stems and earthly branches are much more important for astrology.

Astrology, Marriage, and Compatibility

by Mohan Potukuchi

"Marriages are made in heaven", is a well-known saying. So too can be said,"Divorces happen in hell". The fabric of Indian society weaves itself strongly around the well-established and time-tested institution of marriage built upon a well-thought of procedure and societal sanction. It is as rigorous as any ISO certification. "Once married, married for life", is the slogan or motto of Indian society. It is very strongly believed and rightly so, that marriage between a man and a woman approved by law, is not just a civil and social contract between two people but is also a union of two different families and their harmonious relationship into the future.

The starting point before a boy's family 'sees' a girl of similar status for mutual agreeability to the marriage proposal is the involvement of an astrologer for judging the astrological 'matching' or compatibility of horoscopes. In the so-called 'love marriages', this aspect is of no significance and hence, only a suitable 'muhurta' as per electional astrology is fixed (if required) for the marriage ceremony performance. That the ancient Hindus had devised a method to judge the marriage compatibility of the bride and bridegroom in all aspects - physical, mental, spiritual and biological - speaks immensely of their foresight, insights and skills in social architecture.

As soon as a 'middleperson' brings up a likely 'match', the families refer the horoscopes of the boy and the girl to their astrologers for their astrological examination with regard to compatibility, commonly known as 'matching'. There are three main factors to be considered:

1. The longevity of the boy and the girl

2. The strength of the 7th and the 8th houses

3. Agreeability of 12 factors or 'Koota Milan'

The seventh house in a horoscope pertains to one's partner. If Venus and Mars are in the 7th, the boy or the girl will have strong biological urges and so, such a person should be married to a similar one for compatibility. Judgement of longevity requires expertise and novices should not even attempt it. Once the minimum requirement of agreeability is achieved, the astrologer gives the go-ahead to the family, otherwise, he suggests skipping the proposal.

In 'Koota Milan', twelve (12) factors of matching are considered. The sixteen 'Kootas' are Dina, Gana, Mahendra, Stree-Deergha, Varna, Vasya, Graha-Maitri, Yoni, Rasi, Rajju, Vedha, and Nadi. Of them, the most important are Yoni, Rajju and Nadi. The maximum 'marks' or units of agreement are 36 (thirty-six) and a minimum of 18 (eighteen) are considered essential apart from the satisfactory matching of Yoni (sex), Rajju (duration of married life) and Nadi (physiological temperament). For the matching process, only the birth stars of the boy and the girl are needed. There are 27 (twenty-seven) 'nakshatras' or constellations in Indian astrology, not counting 'Abhijit'. Each 'nakshatra' is sub-divided into four 'padas' or quarters. The constellation in which the moon happens to reside at a given moment is the ruling star of the moment. The one at the time of birth is the birth star. Some astrologers attach greater importance to 'Graha-Maitri' or friendship between the lords of the 'Janma Rasis' (sign of the moon in the horoscopes) since this determines the psychological dispositions of the couple. Some exceptions are also provided as otherwise marriages would not take place at all!

What happens if the 'Janma Rasis' and/or the 'Janma Nakshatras' of the couple are the same ? The commonly accepted verdict of the ancient Indian astrologers and sages, in case the 'Janma Rasis' are same, is that the boy's birth star should precede the girl's. In case the 'Janma Nakshatras' of the couple happen to be the same, they should belong to different 'Padas' (quarters). It is essential to avoid the match if the common star is one among Bharani, Aslesha, Swati, Jyesta, Moola, Dhanista, Satabhisha or Poorvabhadra. If, however, the common birth star relates to two different 'rasis' (signs), and the 'Pada' of the girl relates to the preceding sign, it is acceptable. In case, the common birth star belongs to two signs equally (Mrigasira, Chitta etc.), the 'Pada' of the boy should relate to the preceding sign. Some more exceptions have been laid down to make allowances for matching if there is a strong demand for the alliance. However, the honest and sincere astrologer should put forth his objections without any bias.

'Kuja Dosham' or 'Mangalik' is one major obstacle to marriages in India. This arises due to certain placements of Mars ('kuja' or 'mangal' or 'angaraka') in a horoscope with respect to the Ascendent, the Moon, and Venus. Certainly, this 'dosh' or evil is dreaded by any father, particularly, of a girl! Mars in the 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or the 12th house causes this incompatibility. There are two flaws committed by most astrologers. One is to reckon the position of Mars in the 'Rasi' (sign) and not the 'Bhava' (house) while the other is to ignore to ascertain whether this 'dosh' exists from the Moon and Venus. The evil is stronger if it is from Venus, less stronger from the Moon, and least from the 'Lagna' (Ascendent). Further, not every position of the above-mentioned five placements will endanger the life of the spouse. The 2nd house signifies family, the 4th happiness, the 7th spouse, the 8th longevity, and the 12th pleasures of the bed. 'Kuja Dosh' gets annulled if it is present in both the horoscopes. There are several other exceptions which have to be carefully considered before declaring incompatibility of the horoscopes.

The Western astrologer can greatly benefit from a deeper understanding and application of the methods of compatibility adopted by his Indian counter-part and save the great number of disastrous marriages in the West which has an inerasable effect on the unfortunate off-springs of such marriages. Of course, the new Indian generation has started emulating the undesirable pre-mature practices of the West. They will do good to themselves and the nation if they try to fathom the time-tested value system of India and avoid the pitfalls of the Western society.

7 Interesting facts About the History of Astrology

by Cucan Pemo

Ever since humans looked toward the sky for some kind of meaning to life and answers to the big questions, astrology has been a part of many people's lives. The fact that essentially every culture has, at different times, looked towards the stars for understanding speaks to the universal nature of astrology.

As it evolved from one end of the globe to the other, it took on a different significance and gravity. Some cultures used it to determine laws and punishments, others for love and spirituality. The growth of astrology is marked with peace, war, abundance and famine. Human history can be charted with the history of astrology. Here are a few interesting facts about the history of astrology.

· The origin of astrology is thought to begin with the ancient Babylonians two centuries before the birth of Christ. They took celestial events that were witnessed in the night sky and interpreted them to signify certain events. Major events like a passing comet, a meteor shower or an eclipse were given extreme importance and they often believed that significant actions were needed to calm the anger of the gods. Human sacrifice wasn't unheard of in some situations to deal with what the Babylonians thought were upset deities.

· The first areas of the world that astrology spread to were China, India and Greece. Each culture infused the basic Babylonian astrological belief structure with their own myths, legends and interpretations. In Greece, many of the characters from ancient Greek mythology were combined with the stars to give their astrology it's own local style. The same was true for India and China where local religion and superstition was combined with astrology to give it more meaning to the local population.

· Astrologers were some of the first scientists in medieval Europe. It was astrologers that made the first accurate maps of star movement as well as the orbit of the moon and many astronomical observations about the Earth, itself. Many scientists today look down upon astrology as being a pseudo-science, but without the tiereless work and immaculate record keeping of astrologers hundreds of years ago, the more respected science of astronomy would have been set back by centuries.

· Not only were some of the first scientists astrologers, some of the most respected scientific minds in human history were practicing astrologers. Historic names such as Kepler, Jung, Galileo, Copernicus and Brahe were all significant contributors to astrology during their time as scientists. Even with the marginalization of astrology that was ongoing even in the time that these famous figures were alive, they managed to practice and further the belief in astrology, along with their better known scientific practices.

· Astrology has had a significant impact on modern language. Many different words that are commonly used today have a root in astrological thinking of the past. For instance, influenza comes from the Latin for influence and was so named due to the belief that many sicknesses are caused by the influence of planets and heavenly bodies in the sky. The word disaster originates from the Latin for bad star. And maybe the best known word origin from astrology is lunatic, from the root luna, meaning moon.

· Astrology has had an impact on modern literature, as well. Many writers, including all time greats like Shakespeare and Chaucer used astrological and planetary explanations for their characters behavior. Such references have become a part of modern society. The idea that a full moon still influences people's behavior is just as common today as it was 500 years ago.

· Education and astrology have had an intertwined past. In Europe, during the medieval period, a university quality education was divided up into seven separate categories, one for each known planet. These disciplines became known as the liberal arts; a term still used today on many college campuses. These arts evolved into the modern sciences, but their roots are firmly planted in the field of astrology.

Astrology has existed in one form or another in almost every culture on earth since the beginning of time. When humans had nothing else, they had the night sky, crystalline, pulsing and always changing. It was inevitable that cultures would begin to assign patters and meaning to the night sky since so much of life depended on rain, sun and the crops that they helped to grow.

Just like any other belief system, there have been dark times when blood flowed and anarchy reigned due to an interpretation from above, but the true heart of astrology is still based on the desire for human understanding that is influenced by heavenly bodies. While many modern scientists belittle astrology and its beliefs, there will always be a group that understands the significance of the planets and stars.

Love Astrology and Venus

by Sam Geppi

Love Astrology is becoming very popular as more and more people realize the potential of this ancient, timeless wisdom to shed light on life's great mysteries. Relationships sure are that, a mystery. Free daily horoscopes in the paper do little to shed meaningful light on relationships however; in fact they are misleading and cause many to dismiss love astrology as ineffective or just plain superstitious. Yet for those who know better, horoscope compatibility is an effective way to understand the complexity of relationships.

Much insight into relationships can be learned even from just a cursory glance through the lens of astrology. For instance, astrologically, the house of relationships is the furthest thing from you in the Astrology chart. You, the subject, are read from the first house, the rising sign, also known as the ascendant. Your partner is read from the 7th house or the descendant. This is the furthest point from you in the chart. Similarly, relationships are perhaps the hardest thing we do in life. They are an attempt to integrate that which feels the most alien to us.

Universal wisdom knows that the only way we would face such difficulty or attempt such a Herculean task is if our desires were also the strongest; this is also the case. The seventh house, a house of desires. We want something from the partner, to satisfy our desires with them. The sexual bond that attaches us in relationships is the necessary glue that keeps us going back again and again to face this most un integrated part of ourselves. All of our guts are on the floor and the stakes are high in relationships, otherwise we simply would not do it.

In many ways, the process is quite silly. We care so much about what a certain person thinks just because we think they are good-looking or because of some physical "chemistry switch" that goes off. The person could be dumb as a bag of hammers, but if they are good-looking, or we are attracted to them, suddenly we want them to like us or find us attractive also. Another person could be the most intelligent, insightful person in the world-but if there is no spark, who cares what they think, right?

The planet of attraction, beauty and desires is Venus. Through the miracle of Venus our worldly, trivial association with fleeting forms of beauty and desire becomes transformed into selfless love, devotion to love itself. This love is one more concerned with giving, not taking. This deeper love is our true nature and the reason we suffer when our love fails. Falling short of this ideal is how we fail ourselves.

If we are to return love to its dignified place we need to honor the desires of another equal to our own and thus, compromise with them, also the realm of Venus. In order to get our needs met we also have to allow another to get their needs met also. We are willing to give up what we want now if we want to get more of what we want later. Venus in Astrology chart shows how a person's relationships unfold. Only Venus can transform our desire to experience sensual pleasure and gratification into the desire to please and help another person.

Venus is the planet that teaches us how to live on Earth properly, because she's the one who teaches us how to play fairly. The capacity to yield and remain loving in spite of our disappointment and frustrated desires is the miracle of relationships. When we are able to do this we feel whole. This is why few things are more rewarding in life than growing in relationships and dealing with those difficulties gracefully. We feel like we are making profound spiritual progress when we are able to succeed in relationships.

Love is in the Stars - Relationship Astrology part 1

by Sam Geppi

Love is in the Stars - Relationship Astrology part 1 - Elemental Astrology. This is #1 in a series of relationship astrology articles.

Please visit http://weekly-horoscope.net/blog/ to see the other articles on this subject titled "Love is in the Stars."Fundamentals of Relationship Astrology

Relationship astrology is nothing new, yet it is experiencing a renaissance these days as more and more people rediscover the ancient, holistic wisdom that astrology offers. Thousands of years ago, every culture used astrology. The human beings who lived on Earth at the time developed subtle and meaningful spiritual technologies; astrology was among them. Just as humans today develop technologies that bring about more convenience and entertainment, ancient cultures everywhere developed subtle and magical systems awakening. Astrology, as the science of universal energy and unfolding time, was chief among them.

Even the most cursory look at a basic Astrology book will show the importance of masculine and feminine energy in life. There are two female and two male elements in the astrology chart. Each element is repeated three times through different modalities. (Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable)

The four elements in the Astrology chart from the densest to finest are: Earth and Water (female) -- Fire and Air (male) -- LET'S LOOK DEEPER.

Feminine Energy in the Astrology Chart

Earth shows our physical body as well as all things that are practical, useful, tangible and material. Our life unfolds through our physical body and its needs are the most urgent when they arise. The element of Earth will remain at rest unless acted upon by another force or object. Earth provides the tangible structure for which our life unfolds, but it may also be the stagnant quality that prevents our life from moving forward. Earth rules the sense of smell.

Water shows the flow of our senses into our environment and the deep emotional connections formed. Water is related to our feelings. Water and Earth together creates growth, in the form of plants. Plants provide food and sustenance for all creatures as well as oxygen for us to breathe. Water gives a connection to love and feelings, which gives rise to a caring heart and a compassionate life. Water rests upon Earth and nourishes it, just as the senses feed, and love nourishes, our body. Yet water may make us cling to fantasies, memories or emotions. Water rules the sense of taste.

Female Energy wants to stabilize, sensitize and nourish us, just like Earth and water. Thus women are generally the most interested in feelings, emotions, stability, and being grounded in their body and senses. When feeling a sense of lack in these areas, a woman's actions and thought's will tend to be inconsistent and hard to understand.

These feminine qualities of Earth and water are fundamental to any actions that come later. For both men and women, if we are disconnected from our deeper feeling nature , our actions (as shown by the male signs) will lack sensitivity and meaning.

* Generally speaking, when women feel good about themselves, they will do good things.

Masculine Energy in the Astrology Chart

Fire shows our passions, drives, motivations and digestion of all sorts. As water feeds the body, fire digests what it is fed. Earth and water creates plants; fire is hidden in the plants. Not only is food digested, all information and sensory stimulation must be assimilated and digested. This process of digestion creates heat, warmth and light that illuminates our path; or this fire may burn us or others or create smoke that obscures our path. Fire rules the sense of sight.

Air shows our thoughts, philosophies and motion of all sorts. Fire disperses into the air, into the atmosphere. The food we eat, after its digested leads to movement of all sorts, both in the body and the mind. Air is related to the breath, the vitality. The motion of air can have a worthy goal and bring great understanding or it can be scattered and devoid of meaning by disturbing our peace of mind and emotions (Think of air creating waves on water). Air rules the sense of touch.

Male energy wants to assert, comprehend and protect, just like fire and Air signs. Men are generally the most comfortable in situations where they can think independently and do something for themselves or others. When they are unable to think or act in a situation, their feelings will be inconsistent, unpredictable and hard to understand.

These masculine qualities of life are necessary if we are to grow in truthful identity, strength and understanding. Lacking a clear purpose and consistent powerful actions, our life will stagnate, lack direction and we will not grow toward a higher purpose.

* In general, when men do good things, they feel good about themselves.

In the Vedic sciences there are five elements; the fifth element is space. Space (ether) is related to pure consciousness, the witnessing self, which is not identified with the previous four elements. Space is the container of the other elements; everything exists in space. This is why we are able to perceive our thoughts and actions, watch them move and witness them. If there were no space between our thoughts or no space operating behind them, from what vantage point would we be able to observe them?

Space refers to our freedom and flexibility. We are not just confined to qualities of life on Earth. We have the free will to decide any course of action and observe our mind/body events.

Your Astrological Sign And You

by Phyllis Wasserman

Groups of signs in astrology share certain characteristics that are classified according to four earthly elements - fire, air, water and earth. It helps explain why some signs are more compatible than others.

The Fire signs are Aries (March 21 to April 19), Leo (July 23 to August 22) and Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21). Fire people are leaders, dynamic. They light up everything around them. Because Fire needs Air to exist, Fire signs are most compatible with the Air signs. Water is anathema to Fire and a Water person could try to dampen the dynamism and enthusiasm that defines Fire.

The Air signs are Aquarius (January 20 to February 18), Gemini (May 21 to June 21) and Libra (September 23 - October 22). These are the idea signs, the air that breathes a spark into a flame. They can't be tied down. They require freedom of movement and thought.

The water signs of Cancer (June 22 to July22), Scorpio (October 23 to November 21) and Pisces (February 19 to March 20) are characterized by the phrase still waters run deep. They're emotional and sensitive, given to deep thoughts and conversations. Just as water can blur an image or hide secrets within its depths, so do Water signs have secretive emotions and abilities. The Water signs are most compatible with Earth signs.

The Earth signs are Taurus (April 20 - May 20), Virgo (August 23 to September 22) and Capricorn (December 22 to January 19). They are stable and consistent. While not as compassionate as the water signs, they are nonetheless nurturing. They can be rigid (stick in the mud) and easily stuck in routines. They are most compatible with Water signs, as Water is necessary for the Earth to properly nurture growing things. Earth helps Water contain itself, which is often necessary for survival on the planet.

Why Do Astrological Predictions Go Wrong?

by Mohan Potukuchi

"I have studied it, you have not!", is the famous retort of Sir Isaac Newton when confronted by Edmond Halley, his student on the master's belief in astrology. There are those who protest that astrology is not a science since it does not conform to the principle of falliability. Every hypothesis is true till it is proved otherwise. Yet, there are people who swear by astrology. They would consult the stars endlessly on each and every issue and would let themselves be driven by their astrologer guides.

What will happen tomorrow? - is a query that can never be answered by any science or art other than astrology. Science is about what has or can happen in the light of well-doctrined principles. A doctor can tell the state of a living being at a given time with all the tests performed and possibly expect improvement in health or otherwise. From times immemorial, it has been the seer who was relied upon. Nostradamus' prophecies or Brahammam's predictions are known the world over. There is criticism that most often astrological predictions fail and hence, people lose faith in the claims of astrologers. The reasons are not hard to seek!

Firstly, astrology has not evolved much from the age-old days. Still in India, people are trying to decipher old texts or translate them from Sanskrit. The mystery of 'Nadi Astrology' (predictions written on Palmyrah leaves) is not yet fully solved though some had made investigations. The owners of these leaves would not let out the secrets to anyone except their kith and kin for fear of losing their livelihood. Some dismiss these as rubbish while some hail them as the most complex of all mysteries. The principle appears to be that all planetary positions in a horoscope will repeat after an interval and so will the destinies of people.

Secondly, there is no formal education in occult subjects, though, a few universities have, of late, initiated some diploma courses. Most of the astrologers learn by self-study while approach a Guru. Proficiency levels vary and are also questionable. Some have 'discovered' some opinions based on statistics while some have claimed that their understanding is superior to others. There are different aspects in Indian Astrology like 'Hora Shastra','Stree Jataka','Nashta Jataka', 'Muhurtha','Prasna' etc. There are also different methods and systems like 'Parasari','Jaimini','Kala Chakra' etc. Complete mastery even in one school of thought differentiates the best from the beast!

Thirdly, there are many assumptions and presumptions which are ignored. Basically, three data are essential :- Time of Birth, Date of Birth and Place of Birth. After casting the horoscope either by computer or manually, the astrologer gets ready to judge and predict based on a set of principles. But there are issues! First, what is meant by time of birth? Is it the first cry of the baby, or is it the touching of ground, or is it the time when the umbilical cord is cut? It has also been opined that the time of conception is more important. Second, there is a dispute about the 'ayanamsa' or precession. Most of the astrologers adopt the value given by Lahiri. The late Dr.B.V.Raman had advocated the 'Raivatha Paksha Ayanamsa'. Krishnamurthy had given another. The Western counter-part is lucky in that he follows the 'Sayana' method wherein the first point of Aries is considered movable. In other words, a horoscope casted by the Western Tropical method (Sayana), say, locates Jupiter in Aries,in the other chart casted by the Eastern Sidereal method (Nirayana) may place it in Pisces!

Lastly, opinions differ about signs and houses. The 'bhava' (house) chart can be different depending upon the system adopted for calculations. Many Indian astrologers adopt the Equal House system but are mostly unaware when to use the 'Rasi' chart and when the 'Bhava' chart. A salient point, however, remains. What is a rising sign? Is it right to consider it as the cusp?

Chinese Astrology Forecast For United States In 2007

by Elaine Fung

In 2007, the United States would encounter a series of major troubles that involve the conflict of interest among different political parties. The U.S. government would be in an inferior position in the beginning.

The Trigram that represents the luck of the U.S. in 2007 is Kun, this time with the third stroke changed from last year. Those familiar with I-Ching, or the Book of Changes, can tell the third stroke of a trigram represents danger. It implies internal struggle and conflicts which would surely happen to the U.S. On top of that, its trigram also shows the least compatible / desirable combination: a Kun trigram with hidden Shi and Bo trigrams. Shi represents warfare and confrontations. Bo means an erosion of territory or authority, leaving only the bare essentials.

As a democratic nation with an extensive territory, there are demonstrations in the various scales in the U.S. every day. It is a sign of human rights. Yet, a trigram representing its luck of the year seldom refers to things that happen habitually. In other words, the 'internal conflicts' as foretold by the trigram refers to something more substantial that civilized demonstration.

Here are the two key trends in the U.S. in 2007: 1. The conflicts between different groups of its people and the uneven distribution of resources have accumulated grievances.

Those problems finally escalate to the point where its people have to take a more violent approach.

2. The hidden enemies of the U.S. would turn the country upside down with shady manipulations.

Yet, no matter what happens, the Americans would live on as usual.

Love is in the Stars - Relationship Astrology part 2 - The Sun and Moon

by Sam Geppi

Love is in the Stars - Relationship Astrology part 2 - The Sun and Moon. This is #2 in a series of relationship astrology articles.

The Vedic Sciences, which include Yoga, Ayurveda and Astrology have long known the relationship to our inner and outer environments and the impact and interrelatedness of both. Central to this interrelatedness is our relationship with other people, and primarily our partner. Vedic Astrology has been helping couples relate in empowering ways for thousands of years. The archetypes of Male and female are shown in Astrology as the relationship between the Sun and the Moon.

Man and Woman - Sun and Moon

In Brihat Parashara Hora Sastra, the Sun and Moon are described. Masculine energy is related to the Sun. Feminine energy is related to the Moon

Description of Surya. (The Sun) Surya's eyes are honey-colored. He has a square body. He is of clean habits, bilious, intelligent and has limited hair (on his head).

Description of Chandra (The Moon) Chandra is windy and phlegmatic. She is learned and has a round body. She has auspicious looks and sweet speech, is fickle-minded and very lustful.

Attributes of the Sun and Moon (Man and Woman) are compared:

* Body: The man has a square body; the woman has a round body. * Process: The man is filled with intelligence; the woman is filled with knowing. * Looks: Sun, The man has honey colored eyes; the woman has auspicious looks. * Constitution: The man is bilious (fiery); the woman is watery and windy. * Psychology: The man is consistent; the woman is fickle minded

Let's explore these characteristics:

The Moon is the most changeable of all the planets. It is the fastest moving; it is different everyday. The round body of the Moon shows the woman's changeability and creativity. She is susceptible to rolling here and there, depending on which way the wind is blowing or other environmental conditions. Yet this changeability also makes her creative and adaptable, which helps the man not stay so fixed so as to become rigid. His square body shows the consistency of his actions. A square is a structure of support upon which other objects can be placed. This allows for vertical growth.

The intelligence of the man is of the mind. The knowing of the woman is of the heart. Intelligence comes from a rational perspective then moves forward. Knowing comes from an emotional place and generally reflects backward. This is why women tend to rely on memories. Men tend to want to move forward, looking for solutions, which are of the future. Their needs to be balance and a sharing of both attributes, a thoughtful consideration of the past combined with an intelligence course of action for the future.

The woman's auspicious looks, attracts the man's honey colored eyes. Women want the man's attention and like attracting it. Men like to look at women. The woman's sweet speech and knowing attracts and supports the man's intelligence.

Man has a fiery constitution, which is related to competition, passion and digestion. The nature of fire is independent. It has the capacity to illuminate, purify and provide warmth. The nature of water is connective. It has capacity to sensitize, nourish and heal. Yet fire can also lead to anger and excessive desire. Water can also lead to excessive emotion, drowning in a flood of dependency.

She is fickle minded. The square body of the man reassures her. A square is solid and not so easily moved, thus when she is rolling around she would like to knock into a solid surface.

Relationship Astrology Attributes

These are essential truths, stripped of artifice and modern political correctness. Of course all people have both qualities of the Sun and Moon within them. But in relationships, the woman wants to surrender her Moon to the man's Sun and he wants to give his Sun to her Moon. She surrenders her heart to him and he surrenders his power to her - or NOT.

Each gender ultimately seeks to assimilate attributes of both male and female; but until our essential gender strength is validated in the partnership, we will not be able to relax and evolve toward our opposite. We all want to merge with that opposite energy, to assimilate the qualities inspired by our opposite and to inspire assimilation in them. We all want to be free and unburdened of the responsibilities of the limiting qualities of our gender, but this unburdening must come from a position of strength, not confusion.

Learning how to do this dance gracefully without the woman feeling abused and/or the man feeling powerless is the trick.

Try An Astrology Reading To See What The Stars Predict For You

by Jay Rich

If you're a keen astrology fan, you'll enjoy getting astrology readings both online and off. Personally I get several free ones each day via e-mail; though it's amusing how they're all so different! But it's no less than you'd expect given how they're not based on my detailed personal birth data, and why I only read them for fun.

Not that I'd ever advocate making any serious decisions based on astrology anyway. I regard it as more of a curiosity, albeit one that dates back centuries to the Ancient Babylonians. Whatever my daily horoscope advises me, I'd rather go by a combination of reason and intuition anyway - unless it's telling me to buy a lottery ticket, then I think it might be worth the chance given that it's only a buck or two out of pocket if I'm wrong.

So that's my take on generalized astrology readings: they're just a harmless bit of fun. It gets more interesting when you have a full birth chart done, based on your full personal details - that is to say, birthplace, date and time of birth (although you can still have one done if you don't know the time - it just won't be so accurate). This allows an in-depth reading of your character; plus, if you want that service too, your horoscope compatibility or synastry with another person astrologically.

Of course a full astrology chart can enable the astrologer to make predictions about your future; but whether or not you believe in them is another matter. Some people simply like the psychological insights an astrology reading can give into their own and their loved ones' nature; others believe that the future isn't fated or predetermined and therefore cannot be accurately forecast by any method. Some probably fall somewhere between the two viewpoints, believing some things are destined to happen, with others more under our own control.

Whichever you believe, you might want to try some astrology readings out of curiosity. Some sites will give you a sample first; a source of such is www.HecatesArts.com Then you could opt for a paid chart if you're intrigued enough to want to know more. Most people know their own star sign in the Western zodiac, but there's an Eastern one too, plus Chinese astrology, and even Native American astrology; so you could try each one in turn to see which describes your character best. You might even be surprised at the accuracy of a chart, and at least you can try free astrology first!

The World of Astrology Matching

by Morgan Hamilton

Many centuries ago, people considered astrology as both an art and a science. Those who practiced it were held in great respect. They gave advice to ancient kings and emperors on important matters like when to go into battle and when to marry. However, the astronomers and the astrologers gradually separated from each other as the years go by. In our modern age, these wise sages appear in the magazines to give all of us our horoscope. I admit that I find astrology matching a fascinating subject, even if I am not really interested in its fortune telling aspect.

In some people's opinion, the idea of our personalities being shaped by the position of the stars at the time of our birth is a ridiculous notion. I have read about the twelve signs of the zodiac and the merits and faults of each one. I am surprised to find that many things ring true when I observed my family and friends. Astrology matching is probably the most complex issue of all. In this method, you can evaluate how different signs will get along. You can apply astrology matching to family relationships, friendships, business relationships and romantic ones.

A few weeks ago, I purchased a big, fat book on astrology which focused on the idea of astrology matching. The first thing I looked at was if me and my husband's match is a good one. Apparently, we are one of the best matches because I am Cancer and he is Scorpio. However, this winning combination didn't do Prince Charles and Princess Diana any good so there are also exceptions when it comes to astrology matching.

The various zodiac signs falls into the four classic elements of air, water, fire and earth. This means that those who are under the fire signs like Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are fiery, passionate persons. Libra, Aquarius and Gemini fall which in the Air signs are the cerebral thinkers. The Earth signs which include Taurus, Capricorn and Virgo are the no nonsense, salt of the Earth types. Lastly, the Water signs which include Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio are the emotional, sensitive ones. These elements are important when it comes to astrology matching.

The topic of finding a soul mate always comes up whenever astrology matching is being discussed. This is not focused on finding an identical person, but someone who will complement you with their own attributes. The pairing of two signs together is not always a good idea because it doubles up on too many things. For example, two Cancers together could make for too much sulking and two Leos could be a little too volatile. Make sure that matching through astrology should not have too much influence on your choice of mate. You should just give it some notice and you may be surprised by the outcome.

Astrology and Driving

by Correy Putton

Here's an interesting take on why some drivers have all the luck, or more appropriately, "bad luck" on the road. InsuranceHotline.com, a Web site that gives auto insurance quotes, studied 100,000 North American drivers' records from the past six years and found that Libras, Aquarians and Aries are the worst overall signs when it comes to traffic offenses and accidents. Leo, Gemini and Cancer drivers were found to be the best overall.

Interesting? How about a complete "astrological" driver's profile? According to the website, here are the Astrological Signs that had the most influence over drivers, causing them to have the greatest number of tickets and accidents, from worst to best.

Number 1 Worst : Libra - Sept. 23 to Oct. 22 Libra is the "sign of the scales", it craves balance and consensus. Libra doesn't like to make snap decisions. But rush hour traffic is not a time for seeking driver approval, or for being indecisive.

2nd Worst Position : Aquarius - Jan. 20 to Feb. 18 They're impulsive, and ruled by the Planet of speed and rebellion. Aquarians need to get a better grip behind the wheel.

3rd Worst Position : Aries - Mar. 21 to Apr. 19 Its symbol is the ram. Not good a sign to have for avoiding accidents. Aries have a "me first" child-like nature, that drives Aries into trouble.

4th Worst Position : Pisces - Feb. 19 to Mar. 20 This sign enjoys daydreaming. So wake up Pisces, driving in the "real world" requires your complete attention.

5th Worst Position : Scorpio - Oct. 23 to Nov. 21 The scorpion's instinct is to get revenge, and driving is the perfect avenue to vent a little Scorpion road rage. If you pass a Scorpio, plan on being chased.

6th Worst Position : Taurus - Apr. 20 to May 20 The astrological sign for Taurus is the bull. They're stubborn, and have an urge to charge at red lights.

7th Worst Position : Sagittarius - Nov. 22 to Dec. 21 They're risk-takers, but they're experienced risk takers, and know that stunt driving should be left to the professionals. This is a talkative group, and they should consider putting their cell phone down and just driving.

8th Worst Position : Capricorn - Dec. 22 to Jan. 19 Capricorn is goal oriented. They're more concerned about the destination than the journey. They feel that the rules of the road are for other drivers to follow so that Capricorns can get to their destination faster.

9th Worst Position : Virgo - Aug. 23 to Sept. 22 Virgos have a nervous attention to detail. They made the cover of the Car Carma book. They'd be slamming their brakes on to avoid hitting a squirrel, but cause a 10 car pile-up.

3rd Best Position : Cancer - June 21 to July 22 They're homebodies, and consider the roadway of drivers their extended family. But they're a moody group, and would be the ones to honk at you for no reason at all.

2nd Best Position : Gemini - May 21 to June 20 Geminis are the original multi-taskers. They can eat, drink, read the newspaper, shave, or apply make-up all while driving, although this is NOT recommended, even if you're a Gemini. It's the sign of the twins; while one is driving the other co-pilots.

Number 1 Best : Leo - Jul. 23 to Aug. 22 Leo is generous, and comfortable in sharing the roadway. They're known for having a huge ego, which is their driving force to be the best.

"The results are overwhelming, showing drivers of certain astrological signs are prone to getting more tickets, while others seemed destined to have accidents", says Lee Romanov, president of InsuranceHotline.com and author of the book Car Carma.

And there you were thinking that the only thing you might have to be scared of driving next to the monstrous Hummer with the noisy driver in it is the possibility that at any given minute Hummer parts may come crashing into your little Accord in the event of an accident. Now you may also want to consider whether the driver is a hot-headed Aries or a cool Gemini.

Astrology: Valid Science or Controversial Sham?

by Kat Starwolf

Over the last century, little else seems to have generated as much controversy as the belief in and practice of astrology. Not only have the majority of the world's religions claimed that it is 'evil' and was spawned by the devil, but the scientific community has claimed that it is - at best - a superstition; at worst it is said to be inaccurate and those who offer these services, little more than charlatans.

It's understandable that most laypersons don't and can't understand the intricate nuances of astrology. However, it's infuriating - especially from an astrologer's point of view - when those who actually know little or nothing about it attempt to discredit it.

Generally, these individuals are merely mimicking what they've heard others say. While it's true that many of those debunkers are 'scientists,' we need to keep in mind that even scientists can be and often have been wrong.

As most of us are no doubt aware, Mankind does not have all the answers, which is one reason why academic textbooks are constantly being revised. A good example is Einstein and his Theory of Relativity, which is even now being disproved by the String/Super String/M Theory. Scientists now realize that the laws that govern the 'universe' as we know it may be more localized than we, at first, believed. There may be no law of gravity (for instance) in another part of our universe. In fact, recent research indicates that this very well may be the case.

Not only that, but according to the new physics, the fact that there are other dimensions -- multiverses -- which operate on different 'laws' should be enough to indicate that there's a very real possibility that astrology works off of one of these same principles.

What's misleading about all the so-called 'studies' that have been conducted on astrology and its validity or lack thereof, is that the 'scientists' who have conducted the studies focus mainly on one aspect: Sun Sign astrology. The fact is, there is so much more to an individual's birth chart than just the Sun Sign.

Over the last one hundred years or so only one or two studies have, in reality, been conducted using a minimal number of control subjects and have given precious little source information which would prove beyond the proverbial shadow of a doubt that astrology is not efficacious.

I've been an astrologer for over 25 years, and during that time I've been able to verify its accuracy through data collection and comparison of the numerous astrological traits, characteristics and propensities of the various zodiac signs.

Further, I am currently back in college in order to obtain a degree in counseling psychology and have encountered this same prejudice even with psychologists and other scientists and academicians. While they espouse following empirical methods, they rarely follow these came criteria themselves. In fact, their dialogue with their students actually runs something like this:

===============================================================

Cause and Effect*
STUDENT: Why does science accept electricity without knowing what it is, professor?

PROFESSOR: Because we have proved by its demonstrable effects that it exists, my boy.

STUDENT: Science also accepts magnetism without knowing exactly what it is, doesn't it, professor?

PROFESSOR: Yes, although we do not know whether it is force, fluid or quality - we have proved it by its demonstrable effects.

STUDENT: And Life itself, professor - science says it doesn't know its cause, but it recognizes its existence, doesn't it?

PROFESSOR: Of course! Anything that has a demonstrable effect must be accepted.

STUDENT: Then the demonstrable effects of astrology are entitled to serious scientific consideration, aren't they professor?

PROFESSOR: Certainly not! Science will not accept astrology on the basis of mere demonstrable effects!

* Astrology, Science of Prediction, Sidney K. Bennett, © 1945, Wynn Publishing, Los Angeles, CA. and Chart Interpretation Handbook, Stephen Arroyo, © 1989, CRCS Publishing, Sebastopol, CA, USA. ===============================================================

A bit contradictory, wouldn't you say? The truth is, there are demonstrable effects with astrology, just as there are with electricity, magnetism and life -- all intangible substances we can not see with our physical eyes, and yet whose 'demonstrable effects' we can see, and which we know are there.

Another glaring red flag is that none of the so-called studies were conducted by anyone who knows enough about astrology to make a qualified statement as to its validity. Additionally, there are numerous forms of astrology. It is so detailed and complex that it takes an astrologer years (if ever!) to master any one form.

However, since there have been only 'two' studies which debunk astrology, I will reference 'two' different scientific sources which have proven its efficacy: 1) the astronomer Percy Seymour, one of Britain's leading astronomers, wrote of its validity in his book, Astrology, the Evidence of Science. Another source is the voluminous studies of the French psychologist, Michel Gauquelin. Two more excellent sources of validating data come from Astro Databank and from Avalon School of Astrology, among others.

But do the scientists who have attempted to disprove astrology reference the validating studies? Of course not. Because if they did it would disprove their own blather.

Because of this, I am currently working on what may well turn out to be a major psychology paper (possibly my dissertation) which will prove the efficacy, and thus, the validity of astrology.

And just for the record, as far as Sun Sign astrology is concerned, it's not that it's not accurate; the problem is that only one planet (for simplicity, the sun is considered a planet in astrology) is used, in this case the Sun. However, our natal charts include all the planets in the solar system, including the Moon and several asteroids. Therefore, when calculating a chart, much more is taken into consideration than just the Sun. The fact is, our Rising Sign or Ascendant and our Moon sign can significantly modify or offset the effects of the Sun sign, as can the signs in which our Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus, Pluto and Chiron may fall.

If one is going to argue about the pros and/or cons of an issue, at least study it so that you do, indeed, know whereof you speak.

Birth Time & Vedic Astrology

by John Rang

Astrology is the science of the planets and stars and it has been used by different societies to explore the relationship between human beings and the universe since time immemorial. It gives us an insight into how the universe and the planetary positions influence our lives. This is possible through the study of "horoscope" or a birth star chart. The time of birth is the starting point of anybody's life and so it is of paramount importance to get the time of birth recorded accurately. The birth sign indicates the position of the sun during your birth. This sign along with other signs like the Ascendant, Moon sign and signs of other planets influence your deep spiritual growth, energies and also your character. So it is of paramount importance to get your birth time right so that astrologers can read your horoscope precisely. It is really needless to say that without accurate birth time, very few astrologers could succeed properly in their prophecy.

So, when was I born? Real astrology starts from here. But most often than not, people seldom get a totally correct birth time. The time keeping during the birth process often is neglected (naturally!), and there are many other sources of errors, too. Recorded birth times may be incorrect by 10 and more minutes. To be really sure, you require a mathematical correction of your birth time. But how to get your birth time correct to the exact second? Vedic astrologers calculate the birth time scientifically. This service is based on the dates of major life events. The result is accurate to the second and can be used in any horoscope or any individual astrology chart. Many astrologers recommend this rectification service.

Today, there are probably only five persons in the world who are able to calculate the exact birth time back to 1 second accuracy. That is a unique ability and Vedic astrology cannot be done completely accurately and properly without having the totally accurate birth time including hour, minutes and seconds. The Vedic knowledge is more than 5000 years old and there are many important informations found in the original Sanskrit scripts of Astrology. The secret formula of birth time calculation has been rediscovered in the texts of the Vedic sage Parashara. According to him, Vedic Astrology is a science of ultimate precision and every physical atom is guided by astrological law.

Astrology and horoscope has been made accessible online by a famous astrologer called- Dr. Heinz Krug through his website http:// birthtime (dot) info. He is one of those rare five astrologers in the world who can correctly determine the birthtime of any person to the exact second. So, one does not have to toil hard to find a good astrologer because now he or she can have the correct birthtime with a mouse click from the comfort of home. It is fairly simple for the clients. You would merely fill in a form with dates of your major life events and send it through the website. And your data will be sent on time. What more--the site also offers money back guarantee.

Astrology - What's it all about.

by CME

There is a lot more to astrology than the star sign predictions you see in magazines and papers.

According to Hindu mythology, the knowledge of Astrology, Yoga and various other ancient skills was handed down by the Gods to the Sages of the time.

The basis of astrology is that the behaviour of man is affected by the planets, i.e. the Sun, Moon, Mercury Mars etc, and when a person is born, the position of the planets at the time of birth has fundamental impact on the person's life.

The key to astrology is the astrological chart or the horoscope. Each person has their own chart based on the time and location of their birth. Even a difference of 5 minutes can result in different charts, and also people born at the same time but in different countries can have different charts.

It is the astrological chart that is used for making predictions about a person. The chart consists of 12 houses, each representing an area of life, for example the 10th house represents a person's career. Hence predictions can be made about different areas of a person's life like career, marriage, windfalls, health etc by inspecting the planets within each of the corresponding houses on the chart.

Now you may be asking how the predictions can be made. Well as mentioned earlier, it all depends on how the planets were positioned when you were born. Based on the positioning, different planets will exist in different houses causing different effects which could either be good or bad for the house in question. So for instance you could have the Sun and Mars placed in your 10th house which is your career house. This positioning could mean that you will have a high flying career or it could mean that you will have a really bad career. Also because the planets are constantly moving in and out of the houses, your career could go through highs and lows in your lifetime. Similarly the positioning of the planets in all the other houses will influence other areas of your life.

Now the actual interpretation of the astrological chart varies, i.e. if a planet is in a certain house at a certain time, different people may give different interpretations, for instance one person may say something is bad and someone else may say the same thing is really bad. But you have to bear in mind that astrology is not an exact science, and astrological interpretation should be taken more as probability guide rather than as a surety. For example if you have good planet positioning in your 10th house then there is a probability that you will have a good career, not a surety.

Now you may think that the above is all a pile of cobblers, and that there is no value in astrology. But think again. The basis of astrology is how planets affect you. Now the planets affect the tides, and a human being is made up of a lot of water which could be influenced by the planets in the same way that the tides are. Hence the planets could be affecting a persons personality (mood and behaviour) causing the person to respond in certain ways and hence influencing the outcomes of various events. Again remember, it is not being said that astrology is giving you a precise prediction for the future, but that astrology is providing possibilities for future outcomes, depending on a person's behaviour which could be influenced by the position of the planets.

Ending on another interesting point, a person born in a particular month may not be the star sign that they think they should be according to general media. For example some one born on the 30th March who according to common understanding should be an Aries, may actually not be an Aries. Again depending on the astrological chart, they may be classified as some other star sign, maybe a Leo or Gemini or some other sign. So you may actually not be the star sign you think you are.

Astrology and Numerology; Why you need Both

by Keith Abbott

In critical applications in science and industry, backup systems are a must. Weather it's loss of availability of your ATM or Television, of Loss of Life due to equipment failure in a hospital, having a backup is just good common sense. And in analyzing your life and your opportunities; having more than one chart, one way of looking at things is equally as important. After all, it's your life we're looking at.

==> Redundancy - Tell me Three Times

One of the best ways to insure that information gets from one point to another is to send multiple copies. "Tell me Three times" is a simple method of correcting messages that may have been damaged in transit. The idea is that with (3) copies, at least two of them will have the correct data at any one point in the message.

This is true weather we're talking about text, music, or video. This sampling and correcting process is built into the machines that read our CD's and DVD's. It's why even slightly damaged disk can still be read and played - the process filters out the errors and gives us true information.

This idea can be taken to our Astrology and Numerology charts. By getting both charts and comparing them, we're literally getting a second opinion on our life. And who doesn't want a second opinion on something that important.

==> Astronumerology - Over 100 Life Combinations

When astrologer Jordan Simon, and numerologist Pamela Hobs Bell got together in 1998 and devised Astronumerology, they were building on this idea of using both tools to produce a quick personality reference which could be easily used by anyone. The combination of (12) Sun signs and (9) Life Paths gives you 108 different personality slots to describe people's general tendencies; a much wider selection than either of the two sciences on their own.

However, the Sun Sign and Life Path values are only the most general traits in a person's chart. They give you a broad category, a thumbnail sketch as it were, of a person's chart. The depth and detail that someone needs to know their inner self is missing here.

==> Conclusion

By getting both a good Astrology chart and a Numerology reading, your giving yourself far more insight into your life than either of these ancient sciences can give you on it's own. Just as two critics will give you different insights into a movie, two different reports will give you different insights into your life.

Astrology and Mankind

by Chandrradevi

American Heritage Dictionary defines Astrology as the study of the positions and aspects of celestial bodies in the belief that they have an influence on the course of natural earthly occurrences and human affairs. Planetary observation is the basis of Astrology. The practice of astrology was prevalent in the ancient times as well. History of Astrology is an important part of civilization and goes back to the early days of the human race. Some of the well-known civilizations of the world used this field extensively. For example, the ancient Chinese civilization, the Egyptian civilization, the ancient Indian civilization, etc all practiced astrology at some point or the other. Arabs too practiced Astrology before the advent of Islam. Arabs were quite advanced in the field of Astronomy.

The ancient Babylonians were probably the first to use Astrology. The Babylonians were the first to name the days of the week after the Sun, Moon, and planets. They were also the first to set out the twelve houses of the horoscope. Baghdad and Damascus were known as centers of Astrology and Astronomy in olden times. Egypt contributed a lot towards the development of Astrology. It is thought that some of the astrological signs of the zodiac originated in Egypt.

Greek astronomer Ptolemy was the first ever person to write a book on Astrology. He codified the sun sign astrology that we know today. Ptolemy tried to predict the positions of celestial bodies relative to each other and the earth through knowledge of their orbital motions. During his time, astrology was a part of astronomy. Later, astronomy became an exact science and Astrology remained a part of Theology.

Chinese astrology stresses on the five elements, metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. Even the zodiac signs used by them are also different from other forms of astrology.

India has a rich history of Astrology. Astrology was practiced even in the Vedic times in India. Astrology is one of the six disciplines of Vedanga. Ancient Hindu Scriptures too give a lot of importance to the various aspects of planetary motions and its effects on humans. Astrology is still studied and practiced by many in India. It is regarded as vital in Indian culture. It is used to make decisions about marriage, starting of new businesses, and moving into a new house etc. The Hindus believe that human fortune or misfortune in life is due to karma, and karma is believed to be influenced by the movements of the planets. Among the Hindus, Brahmins are considered to be the best authorities on astrology. The astrologers in India claim that it is a scientific method to predict the future. They still club this field of study within the parameters of Hinduism. Hindus almost unanimously believe in astrological predictions. In fact, religious Hindus cannot imagine life without Astrology. More and more Indians have started to build their houses according to the principles of Vastu Shashtra. This ancient Indian tradition is also governed by astrological implications. Hindus believe that the overall prosperity and benefits of the occupants is dependant on the Vastu principles while building the house. Indian Astrologers claim that they can prove that astrological predictions are indeed scientific.

Horoscope is a part of Astrology. Reading the horoscope daily has become a trend even in the developed countries of the West. The Western mind has always put everything subject to scrutiny and they tend to rely solely on scientific facts. But that is not preventing the western people from being obsessed with their horoscopes. Suddenly, the western world has woken up to the possibility of knowing and improving their future with the use of astrology. More and more westerners have started to believe in the possibility of getting affected by the powerful planets and stars. Western scholars have included the subject of astrology in their research. Astrology was never scrutinized and researched ever before the way it has been done over the last few years. In this regard, the Indian astrologers should come forward and show the world the power that astrology holds.

Some simple understanding of astrology

by Mere T.

I love reading. It has been a habit ingrained since young by my father who told me I could find troves of treasures when you read books. I have been reading since. As for this blog, I am doing my best to post daily. Frankly, this is something new to me as I just started blogging not too long ago. However, the best way to succeed is to keep doing it consistently.

I have just finished read "Ask your guide" and now I am reading through another book about Astrology. It is really interesting to learn the close relationship between human civilization and planetary formations. Every known civilization in history had fond affinity to study planets and stars.

Here is what I read so far. All planets and stars have traits and characteristics. You are really made from star dust hence your emotions are linked to your star formations at the time of your birth. It is no wonder that many people like to use heavenly bodies to understand relationships amd lifes.

In your birth-chart, some planets dominate and the others do not. The dominating planet will influence the personality more. Therefore, if you study the influences of the few planets in a given time, you can really predict the good and bad things in life. Knowing the things in advance will help you dilute the intensity of sufferings, but nevertheless the suffering shall be there. Maria Duval must be an expert in this!

Astrology is also widely used to understood boy and girl relationship because With every individual, one planet would provide the dominating influence. He or she will be identified with that planet.

The elements in astrology

by Michael Silva
